About Troth Weddings
Troth Weddings is a network of independent wedding photographers and videographers, one partner per location across the US and Canada. Troth is the old word for a pledge, and ours is simple: one inquiry, one photographer who knows your place, photo and video from one crew, and a price list for your location within one business day.

Where the name comes from
Troth is an old English word for a pledge. To plight your troth was to give your word to someone, and it is the root of betrothed. We chose it because a wedding photographer works on a pledge too. You hand them the one day that will not be repeated, and they promise to come back with it. Everything on this site is built around keeping that promise, and we wanted a name that said so.
How Troth Weddings started
Troth Weddings began on the other side of the inquiry form. We watched couples marrying away from home, on a red-rock overlook in Sedona, on a beach on Kauai, at a courthouse in Savannah, send the same message to ten studios and get ten price lists back, with no way to tell who actually knew the place. The photographers who did know it, who had stood at that overlook at six in the evening and knew which permit office answers the phone, were the hardest to find, because they were busy shooting.
So instead of another directory we built an introduction. In every place we shoot, you are introduced to one partner photographer who has photographed weddings there and whose full weddings we would book ourselves. When you write to us about your date and your place, your inquiry goes to that one person, together with their price list for the location, and the conversation starts with someone who already knows the ground.
Every partner is an independent business with their own style and their own contract, so you deal directly with the person who will be there on the day. When this site says “we”, it means the network.
What you get
- One crew for photo and video. Choose photo, video or both, and the same team plans your day as a single schedule: where the portraits happen, which window the film uses for the ceremony, who stands where. No two vendors working around each other.
- Someone who knows the place. Light, permits, timing and the spots that are worth the walk. Your photographer has photographed weddings there before yours.
- One conversation, not ten quotes. Within one business day you receive the price list for your location and the partner’s recent galleries and films. Then you talk with the photographer and decide.
- Clear terms. The contract and the deposit are with your photographer, so the price, the dates and the deliverables are set by the person doing the work. We stay in the loop from the first reply until your gallery and film are delivered.
- Your pace. Ask for the price list, look at the work, talk with the photographer, then decide. The date is held only when you choose to hold it.
What we hold ourselves to
Three things. The partner we introduce has shown us full weddings from the place you are asking about, not a highlight reel, and we have looked at how they handle contracts, backups and delivery. The price list you receive is the photographer’s own, with travel to your place already built in. And we stay in the loop from the first reply until your gallery and film are delivered, so there is always a second address to write to if a question comes up.

What we cover
Photography and videography are the whole of what we do, so every conversation is about your pictures. We cover weddings, elopements, engagement sessions, videography and albums, in 32 places across the US and Canada, from city halls to national parks. Each place has its own page with the facts that shape a wedding day there: the light, the season, the license and the permits.
