In short
Troth Weddings arranges engagement sessions and proposal photography through independent partner photographers matched to your location. A session gives you an edited gallery with print rights, useful for save-the-dates and invitations. A proposal is photographed from a distance and planned with you in advance. Ask in the form's note and we reply within one business day.
Sessions and proposals
An engagement session is often the first time a couple is photographed together on purpose, and it doubles as a rehearsal. You learn how your photographer works, how they direct, and what you look like when you stop thinking about the camera. By the wedding you are at ease with each other and with them. A session also gives you pictures for save-the-dates and invitations well before the gallery from the day.
A proposal is a different job. The photographer has to be in position, unseen, at a moment nobody can repeat, so it is planned with the person proposing: the spot, the approach, a signal. We photograph the proposal and, if you want, the celebration that follows. We do not plan the proposal itself, book the restaurant or choose the ring; we make sure the moment is recorded.
A session can be added to a wedding booking with the same partner. Ask for it in the form.
What a session or a proposal includes
A session is a stretch of time in one or two places, chosen with you for the light and for how you want to look: relaxed in a park, on a street, at home, at the water. You receive an edited online gallery with print rights and a sneak peek within days, so the first picture can go out quickly. Once you book, the partner sends notes on clothing, time of day and pacing.
A proposal is covered from a distance: the approach, the question, the reaction, and a few minutes of portraits afterwards while the moment is still fresh. If you would like film as well, ask; a short piece can record the surprise, and the partner will say what the setting allows.
Not included: styling, hair and makeup, the booking of the location, and permits. Where a place needs a permit for a session, the location pages cite the rule when we found one. Prints and albums can come from the session gallery; see albums and prints.
Booking a session or a proposal
Send the form with the place and a rough date, or a window if the date is flexible. In the note, say whether you want a session, a proposal or both. We reply within one business day with the price list for your location and the work of the partner we would introduce.
For a session, the partner proposes a time of day and a spot after you book. For a proposal, the partner plans the approach with the person proposing: where to stand, how the moment will be signalled, what happens if the plan changes. Use your own email address in the form and mention in the note that the other person does not know, so replies are written with that in mind.
If you are planning a wedding too, say so: a session with the photographer who will cover your wedding makes the wedding day easier. Wedding coverage explains what that includes.

Collections
Every collection comes as photo, video, or both, with the same team on the day. Half day covers an elopement or a small ceremony and portraits; Full day runs from getting ready to the first hour of the reception; Two days adds a rehearsal dinner, a welcome evening or a next-morning session. Travel to your location is built into the quote, not added later.
Prices depend on the date, the team and how far we travel, so we send a price list for your location rather than publishing one number for every town. Ask for it below; it arrives within one business day.

Questions about sessions and proposals
01How far in advance should we book an engagement session?
Book once you know the place and a rough window. Sessions take less lead time than weddings, but plan earlier if you want the pictures for save-the-dates or invitations, because those need time to be designed and printed. For a proposal, book as soon as you have a date, so the partner can plan the approach with you.
02Do you travel for a session or a proposal?
Sessions are arranged in any of the places we shoot, and elsewhere by travel. If you would like a session at a nearby spot, say so in the form and the partner will tell you what is possible and how travel is quoted.
03Can we have a short film of the session?
Ask in the form's note. Our partners shoot photo and video, and whether a session film is offered is the partner's decision for your location. If it is, the partner will say how it is quoted. The wedding itself can always carry both, with one crew for photo and video.
04What happens if it rains on the day of the session?
A session is easier to move than a wedding. Your photographer will suggest a covered spot or another day, and you agree the plan when you book. For a proposal, the plan includes a backup, because the moment cannot be rescheduled once the other person is on the way.
05How many photos do we receive, and when?
The number depends on the length of the session, and the photographer states it when you book. A sneak peek comes within days, then the full edited gallery on the date agreed. Print rights are included, so the pictures can go on invitations and save-the-dates as soon as you have them.
