Wedding photographer & videographer in Cleveland

Ohio sets no waiting period1 and a Cuyahoga County license is valid for 60 days2, so in Cleveland the ceremony date is yours to choose first. Below: what the county asks, the permits that apply on the lakefront and in the Cultural Gardens, and how a day runs in the light.

Wedding detail

We cover Cleveland days of every size: a small ceremony with portraits, a full wedding from getting ready to the first hour of the reception, or a two-day weekend. Photo, video or both.

Collections

Every collection comes as photo, video, or both, with the same team on the day. Half day covers an elopement or a small ceremony and portraits; Full day runs from getting ready to the first hour of the reception; Two days adds a rehearsal dinner, a welcome evening or a next-morning session. Travel to Cleveland is built into the quote, not added later.

Prices depend on the date, the team and how far we travel, so we send a price list for Cleveland rather than publishing one number for every town. Ask for it below; it arrives within one business day.

Good to know in Cleveland

Marriage licenses come from the Cuyahoga County Probate Court, Marriage License Department, 1 Lakeside Avenue West, Room 1292. The fee is $60 and the license is valid for 60 days2. Online pre-registration is mandatory before the visit, both of you attend with a Social Security number and government photo ID, and one applicant must live in Cuyahoga County; if neither of you lives in Ohio, you apply in the county where the ceremony will take place2.

Two permit rules decide where a ceremony can happen. The Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park need a City of Cleveland special use permit, requested at least 10 business days ahead and covering up to 4 hours3. A ceremony with photographs is $150 for Cleveland residents and $175 for non-residents3. Cleveland Metroparks allow ceremonies in public shared-use areas for 50 guests or fewer, in a two-hour slot, with no amplified music and no tents4.

Winter is cold: January averages a 35.8°F high and a 22.3°F low5.

The day

The day,as we shoot it in Cleveland

Wedding detail

September gives Cleveland a comfortable working day: sunrise at 07:06 and sunset at 19:36 on the 15th7, with an average high of 75.6°F and a low of 57.1°F5. Other months move the anchors but not the order of the day.

  1. Sunrise7. Getting ready begins; the first frames are details and the dress.
  2. Morning A first look, if you want one, and the family portraits at Wade Park around Wade Lagoon8. The Cultural Gardens need the permit described above, so we use them only when it is in hand.
  3. Afternoon The ceremony. On the lakefront that means a Metroparks slot of two hours4; in the Cultural Gardens the permit runs up to four hours3. Either way we plan the film and photographs to fit inside it.
  4. Evening The wedding party on the Hope Memorial Bridge, a 4,490-foot art deco truss over the Cuyahoga River9.
  5. Sunset7. Closing portraits and the last frames of the film.

September averages 3.93 inches of precipitation5, so the ceremony has an agreed covered or indoor alternative before the day. In January the sun rises at 07:50 and sets at 17:217, which pulls winter portraits into the early afternoon and keeps them short and close to the ceremony.

How we match you with your photographer

Troth Weddings is a network of independent wedding photographers and videographers, built location by location. When you inquire about Cleveland, we introduce you to the partner photographer matched to it. We share their recent galleries and films and set up a call. You book directly with them; we stay in the loop until your gallery is delivered.

Partners join by invitation. Before we list anyone we review full weddings, not highlight reels, and how they handle contracts, backups and delivery.

How booking works

  1. Send the form with your date and location.
  2. We reply within one business day with the Cleveland price list and the partner's recent work.
  3. Call with the photographer; if it fits, a deposit holds the date.
  4. A short questionnaire about people, places and timing, two weeks before.
  5. The day.
  6. A sneak peek first, then the full gallery and the film on the dates set in your contract.

Questions couples ask

01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Cleveland?

As early as your date allows, since we can only match you with a partner who is free that day. Cleveland adds two lead times of its own: a Cultural Gardens permit must be requested at least 10 business days ahead3, and the county license needs online pre-registration before the visit2. An early date leaves room for both.

02Do you travel to Cleveland, and is travel included?

Cleveland is one of our listed locations and travel to it is built into the quote, not added later. If you live elsewhere in Ohio or out of state, the county license is the place to check first: where you apply depends on who lives in Cuyahoga County and who lives in Ohio2.

03What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

We agree a covered or indoor fallback for the ceremony before the date. If you are marrying on the lakefront, ask Cleveland Metroparks how a wet-weather change is handled, because they reserve ceremonies in a two-hour slot4. Portraits move to whatever is dry and the film follows.

04Can we book photo and video together in Cleveland?

Yes. Every collection comes as photo, video or both, made by one team on the day, so the portrait stops, such as the Hope Memorial Bridge or Wade Park, are planned once for both. Choose Photo + Video on the form and the Cleveland price list covers both.

05How many photos do we receive, and when?

The count depends on how long we cover and how the day moves, and your partner states it in the contract, not us. The order is fixed: a sneak peek within days, then the full gallery and the film on the dates set in your contract.

Say when.

Tell us the date, or only the season if it isn't settled, and the Cleveland price list is with you within one business day, alongside a partner's recent work.
