How we shoot Boise

In Boise we cover full-day weddings, small ceremonies and two-day weekends, in photo, video or both.
Collections
Every collection comes as photo, video, or both, with the same team on the day. Half day covers an elopement or a small ceremony and portraits; Full day runs from getting ready to the first hour of the reception; Two days adds a rehearsal dinner, a welcome evening or a next-morning session. Travel to Boise is built into the quote, not added later.
Prices depend on the date, the team and how far we travel, so we send a price list for Boise rather than publishing one number for every town. Ask for it below; it arrives within one business day.

Where we shoot in Boise
These are the places we build Boise portraits and ceremonies around. Each comes with a rule or a limit that is easier to plan around than to discover on the day.
- Boise River Greenbelt a riverside trail running more than 20 miles from Lucky Peak Dam to beyond Eagle Road in Eagle1. Its length means we can walk a stretch with you instead of posing you in one spot.
- Table Rock a foothills pillar south-east of downtown, with a summit at 3,650 ft that stands about 900 ft above the city center2. It is the landmark we keep in the long frames at the edge of town.
- Camel's Back Park an 11-acre city park beside the 63-acre Camel's Back Reserve and the 292-acre Hulls Gulch Reserve in the foothills3.
- Julia Davis Park downtown, created in 1907 as the first of the "String of Pearls" parks along the Boise River4. The Rose Garden here is reservable for ceremonies only, and photographers and their subjects stay on manicured turf and paved or brick surfaces5.
- Kathryn Albertson Park 41 acres near downtown with wide paved footpaths and reservable gazebos6.
- Esther Simplot Park 55 acres, with about 23 acres of ponds and wetlands, Friendship Island and access to the Greenbelt7.
- Boise Depot the former Union Pacific station, opened in 1925 on the rim of the first bench and looking down Capitol Boulevard to the State Capitol8.

The day
The day,as we shoot it in Boise

A July wedding day in Boise runs long. On July 15 the sun rises at 06:17 and sets at 21:239, so the last good light arrives close to nine in the evening. What follows is a sample, built around those times; your own timeline is set with the photographer on the planning call. Film audio goes on the officiant before the ceremony, so the crew arrives early to fit it.
- Getting-ready details indoors, away from the afternoon heat.
- Family portraits at Julia Davis Park, downtown.
- The ceremony, with the film crew's audio placed on the officiant.
- Couple portraits on the Greenbelt while the light softens.
- Last frames facing the foothills, ahead of sunset.
Heat is the July question, not rain. The average high at Boise Airport is 92.7 °F, with 0.21 in of rain10, so we plan shade, water and a late start for portraits rather than a wet-weather plan. April and October flip that: average highs of 62.3 °F and 64.8 °F, with 1.23 in and 0.81 in of rain10, and there we agree an indoor fallback near the ceremony site in advance. In January the average high is 38.8 °F10 and the sun sets at 17:339, so a winter ceremony moves to early afternoon and portraits happen first.
| Month | Sunrise | Sunset |

How we match you with your photographer
Troth Weddings is a network of independent wedding photographers and videographers, built location by location. When you inquire about Boise, we introduce you to the partner photographer matched to it. We share their recent galleries and films and set up a call. You book directly with them; we stay in the loop until your gallery is delivered.
Partners join by invitation. Before we list anyone we review full weddings, not highlight reels, and how they handle contracts, backups and delivery.
How booking works
- Send the form with your date and location.
- We reply within one business day with the Boise price list and the partner's recent work.
- Call with the photographer; if it fits, a deposit holds the date.
- A short questionnaire about people, places and timing, two weeks before.
- The day.
- A sneak peek first, then the full gallery and the film on the dates set in your contract.
Good to know in Boise
The Ada County Recorder issues the license, at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise, for a fee of $3011. There is no waiting period, so you may marry the same day, and the license has no expiration date11. Apply online first; then both of you appear together with photo ID and Social Security numbers11. Idaho asks for no residency, but the license is valid only for a ceremony held in Idaho11, and it does not require witnesses to be listed on it12.
City parks add their own rules. Boise accepts park reservations from April 15 through October 15 and runs first come, first served the rest of the year13. The Julia Davis Rose Garden, Kathryn Albertson Park and Friendship Island at Esther Simplot Park are reservable for ceremonies only; glass, confetti, bird seed, popcorn and rice are not permitted, and bubbles are fine5.
Boise sits at 2,703 ft14, and the January low at Boise Airport averages 25.5 °F10, so cold-weather ceremonies need warm layers for the portrait walk.

Questions couples ask
01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Boise?
Book when you choose the date, especially for a Saturday between spring and fall. Boise accepts city park reservations from April 15 through October 1513, and Esther Simplot Park issues one reservation per day7, so the venue can fill before the team does. After the call, a deposit holds your date with the partner.
02Can we book photo and video together in Boise?
Yes. One crew covers both, and the film is planned beside the gallery from the same day. We have a separate page on wedding videography in Boise covering sound, light and what you receive. Tell us on the form which you want, and the Boise price list covers it.
03What happens if it rains on our wedding day in Boise?
Rain is unusual in July, when Boise Airport averages 0.21 in10, but April averages 1.23 in and October 0.81 in10. For those months we scout a covered or indoor fallback near the ceremony site beforehand and keep the portrait plan flexible, so a wet hour becomes part of the story rather than a lost one.
04Do you travel to Boise, and is travel included?
We introduce you to an independent partner photographer matched to Boise, and travel is built into the quote, so no separate line appears later. If you want portraits in the foothills, where Camel's Back Park sits beside the Camel's Back and Hulls Gulch reserves3, say so on the form and the partner plans the drive.
05How many photos do we receive, and when?
The number depends on the length of coverage, so the partner states it in your contract. Every photo collection includes an edited gallery with print rights and a sneak peek within days; the full gallery follows on the date in the contract. A July day, with sunset at 21:239, simply gives the team more light to work with.
Say when.
Tell us the date, the Boise setting you have in mind and whether you want photo, video or both. We reply within one business day with the Boise price list and a partner's recent work.
