Wedding photographer & videographer in Sedona

In Sedona the paperwork comes first: an Arizona license costs $98, has no waiting period and needs two witnesses1. After that the red rock is ours to photograph and film, with one team on the day and travel in the quote.

We photograph and film weddings and elopements in Sedona, Arizona, with one team and travel in the quote. Arizona has no marriage waiting period, and either the Yavapai or Coconino County clerk can issue your license. Forest Service rules decide where you can marry, so we plan sites with you.

Collections

Every collection comes as photo, video, or both, with the same team on the day. Half day covers an elopement or a small ceremony and portraits; Full day runs from getting ready to the first hour of the reception; Two days adds a rehearsal dinner, a welcome evening or a next-morning session. Travel to Sedona is built into the quote, not added later.

Prices depend on the date, the team and how far we travel, so we send a price list for Sedona rather than publishing one number for every town. Ask for it below; it arrives within one business day.

Good to know in Sedona

Either county clerk can issue the license: Yavapai and Coconino both charge $98, and the license is valid anywhere in Arizona12. It stays good for 12 months, and two witnesses aged 18 or over are required1.

On Coconino National Forest land, a wedding of fewer than 75 people needs no permit if the only paid providers are the officiant and the photographer or videographer and there is no sound equipment; anything else needs a special use permit3. Weddings at Crescent Moon Picnic Site are by reservation only through recreation.gov4, and its page read "temporarily closed due to severe flooding" on November 6, 20265. Treat any Red Rock Ranger District site as "check current status" until the Forest Service says otherwise6.

Wedding detail

An April wedding day in Sedona starts early: on April 15 the sun rises at 05:55 and sets at 18:599. This sample is built around those times; your own is set with the photographer.

  1. First-light portraits of the two of you at Airport Mesa, before anyone else is dressed.
  2. Getting ready, details and family portraits close to where you are staying.
  3. The ceremony, with the buttes behind and the sun still well above the horizon.
  4. Couple portraits near Bell Rock or Courthouse Butte as the light turns sideways.
  5. Final frames in the last half hour before sunset.

Sedona swings between morning and afternoon. The April average at Sedona station is a 74.7 °F high and a 44 °F low, with 0.77 in of rain8, so we start the day in layers and finish it in shirtsleeves. July is hotter, at a 96.9 °F average high, and wetter than April at 1.62 in8; there we pull portraits to the first and last hours of light. In January the average high is 58.3 °F and the low 34 °F8, and the sun sets at 17:389, so winter ceremonies are early and short. If a storm closes a site, we move the same plan to the next one on the list.

Where we shoot in Sedona

Sedona's landforms do most of the work, so our portrait plan starts with which butte sits behind the ceremony. These are the places we plan around, with the limits that apply to them.

  • Cathedral Rock a sandstone butte in Coconino National Forest, about 2.5 miles south of the "Y" junction in uptown Sedona, with a summit at 4,967 ft10. Its trail climbs steeply, so we photograph it as a backdrop from lower ground.
  • Crescent Moon Picnic Site and Red Rock Crossing the Forest Service site where Cathedral Rock is reflected in Oak Creek5. Weddings here are by reservation only; check current status first.
  • Bell Rock a butte just north of the Village of Oak Creek, with a summit at 4,919 ft11.
  • Courthouse Butte east of Bell Rock, with a summit of 5,454 ft and a 4.5-mile trail around it from the North Bell Rock Trailhead12.
  • Airport Mesa a scenic overlook and hiking trail about 300 yards north-east of Sedona Airport13.
  • Oak Creek Canyon the river gorge between Flagstaff and Sedona, with State Route 89A running along its bottom for about 13 miles before it enters Sedona14. The Forest Service flood alert of November 2, 2026 names it among the affected areas6.
  • Wilson Mountain and Capitol Butte summits of 7,122 ft and 6,355 ft inside the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness1516. Staged wedding photography is not allowed in a wilderness area3, so these stay in the frame as distant backdrops and nothing more.

How we match you with your photographer

Troth Weddings is a network of independent wedding photographers and videographers, built location by location. When you inquire about Sedona, we introduce you to the partner photographer matched to it. We share their recent galleries and films and set up a call. You book directly with them; we stay in the loop until your gallery is delivered.

Partners join by invitation. Before we list anyone we review full weddings, not highlight reels, and how they handle contracts, backups and delivery.

How booking works

  1. Send the form with your date and location.
  2. We reply within one business day with the Sedona price list and the partner's recent work.
  3. Call with the photographer; if it fits, a deposit holds the date.
  4. A short questionnaire about people, places and timing, two weeks before.
  5. The day.
  6. A sneak peek first, then the full gallery and the film on the dates set in your contract.

Questions couples ask

01When should you avoid Sedona for a wedding?

Avoid dates when the weather, not the scenery, decides the day. Sedona station averages a 96.9 °F high in July8 and a 34 °F low in January8, and the Forest Service posted a flood alert on November 2, 2026 with many Red Rock Ranger District sites closed6. April and October sit between those extremes.

02How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Sedona?

Book when you choose the date. Crescent Moon Picnic Site is reservation-only through recreation.gov, and the concessionaire may black out high-use dates such as holiday weekends4, so a site and a team have to line up. After the call, a deposit holds your date with the partner.

03What happens if it rains on our wedding day in Sedona?

Rain here is a planning question rather than a disaster: April averages 0.77 in at Sedona station and July 1.62 in8. We agree a second site beforehand, keep portraits flexible, and move the ceremony earlier or later if a cell passes through. Flooding that closes a site is handled the same way.

04Can we book photo and video together in Sedona?

Yes, with one crew and one timeline. For the film, note that the Forest Service no-permit rule for small weddings excludes sound equipment3, so a ceremony with a speaker or amplified music needs a special use permit. We record on the officiant rather than through speakers, and the district can confirm how recording gear is treated.

05How many photos do we receive, and when?

The number depends on the length of coverage, so the partner states it in your contract. Every photo collection includes an edited gallery with print rights and a sneak peek within days; the full gallery follows on the date in the contract. On a Sedona day the working window is often the permit slot, which lasts two hours for a Small Wedding at Crescent Moon4.

Say when.

Tell us the date, whether you are eloping or planning a larger day, and which part of Sedona you have in mind. We reply within one business day with the Sedona price list and a partner's recent work.
