Louisiana: wedding photo & video

Troth Weddings offers Louisiana couples one photo-and-video team, matched to an independent partner photographer; in Louisiana we shoot in New Orleans, with elopement and film pages of its own. State law requires two witnesses at the ceremony, and the Louisiana Department of Health lists a 24-hour wait and a 30-day license1. Ask for the price list.

Wedding photo & video across Louisiana

Louisiana coverage on this site is New Orleans, where the French Quarter, the Vieux Carré, is the oldest neighborhood in the city2. One team makes both the photographs and the film. Your inquiry goes to one independent partner for your place, and you book directly with them; we stay in the loop until the gallery and the film are delivered.

Louisiana's rules shape a wedding day more than the camera does. The 24-hour wait runs from the issuance of the license to the ceremony1, and two witnesses must be present3, so even a small elopement is the two of you plus two witnesses, and the license has to be in hand a full day before you marry.

Tell us the date and the place on the form and the price list is written for them, with travel built in.

Locations in Louisiana

Our Louisiana location is New Orleans: the places we shoot, the light by month and the Orleans Parish license steps. Two further pages go deeper. One covers eloping in New Orleans, with the paperwork and a half-day plan; the other covers wedding videography in New Orleans, from the feature film to how ceremony sound is recorded. For a wedding elsewhere in Louisiana, name the town on the form.

Louisiana marriage license basics

Louisiana requires a 24-hour wait between the issuance of the license and the ceremony1. A license is valid for 30 days, and Orleans Parish licenses, issued by the Louisiana Department of Health, Vital Records, are valid in any parish in Louisiana1. The ceremony must be performed in the presence of two competent witnesses of full age3.

In New Orleans the fee is $27.501. The Orleans Parish office issues licenses from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays, and both of you come with a current ID or passport and a certified birth certificate1. Our New Orleans page covers the rest, including the waiver of the 24-hour wait for couples who both live outside Louisiana.

Louisiana questions

01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Louisiana?

As soon as your date and place are set. The license timetable is short, with a 24-hour wait and a 30-day validity window1, so you collect it close to the day. That is why the photographer comes first: we can only match you with a partner who is free on your date.

02Do you travel to Louisiana, and is travel included?

Travel is built into the quote for the locations we list, and the price list is written for the place you name. Orleans Parish licenses are valid in any parish in Louisiana1, so a ceremony outside New Orleans, within the state, does not need a second license.

03What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

We plan for it. New Orleans averages 6.79 inches of precipitation in July and 3.87 inches in November4, so the ceremony gets a covered or indoor alternative agreed in advance, and portraits move to whatever is dry while your partner talks through the options with you.

04How many photos do we receive, and when?

The count depends on the length of coverage and how the day moves, and your partner states it in the contract rather than us promising a figure. The order is fixed: a sneak peek within days, then the full gallery and the film on the dates in your contract.
