Nova Scotia: wedding photo & video
We photograph and film weddings and elopements across Nova Scotia as one team, starting in Halifax. A Nova Scotia licence is normally issued right away, and you can apply and marry here even if you do not live in the province, so site permissions matter more than paperwork. Ask for the price list; it arrives within one business day.

Wedding photo & video across Nova Scotia
We photograph and film weddings and elopements across Nova Scotia as one team, with an independent partner photographer matched to your location. In Nova Scotia we shoot in Halifax, where the regional municipality counted 439,819 people at the 2021 census1 and the city sits 28 m (92 ft) above sea level2.
The province makes the paperwork easy for visitors. You can apply for a licence and marry in Nova Scotia even if you do not live here3, and the Deputy Issuer normally issues it right away3.
The detail is in the sites. The Halifax Regional Municipality books park ceremonies for $92.17 CAD plus HST from April 1, 20264, yet the Halifax Public Gardens do not allow ceremonies at all, only photography4, and the Citadel asks for a wedding photography permit in advance5. We sort those rules with you before a date is fixed.
Locations in Nova Scotia
In Nova Scotia we shoot in Halifax. The Halifax wedding page covers harbour-side ceremonies, park weddings, small elopements and two-day weekends, with the October light, the municipality's park booking and the permits for the Citadel and the Public Gardens set out in full, spot by spot. It also points out the municipal parks that are listed for outdoor weddings, so you can choose a portrait route around them.
Nova Scotia marriage licence basics
Nova Scotia Vital Statistics licences are issued by Access Nova Scotia or a Deputy Issuer of Marriage Licences. The fee is $132.70 CAD and the licence is valid for 3 months3. You need 2 witnesses, each at least 163. Because the licence stays valid for 3 months, it can be bought close to the date and still cover the ceremony.
Both of you need signed, unexpired government-issued identification and proof of age3. The officiant, whether a religious representative, justice of the peace or judge, must be registered with Vital Statistics3. We summarize published rules; the issuer is the authority, so confirm the details with Access Nova Scotia or your Deputy Issuer before you travel. Vehicles, parking and ceremony rules at the parks are covered on the Halifax page, because they come from the municipality, not the province.

Questions couples ask
01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Nova Scotia?
02Do you travel to Nova Scotia, and is travel included?
Yes. Travel within Nova Scotia is built into the quote, not added later, so the price list is the figure you plan with. We introduce you to an independent partner photographer matched to your location and share their recent galleries and films before you speak.
03Can we book photo and video together?
Yes, with one crew for both. Sound comes from a lavalier microphone on the officiant and a recorder alongside. Some sites, such as the Halifax Citadel, require a permit for wedding photography5, so we ask about filming in the same request.
04What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
Rain is part of Halifax weather in every season: each of January, April, July and October averages more than 100 mm at the Citadel Hill station6. We agree a covered fallback in advance and carry umbrellas, and we pick portrait spots that still work in grey light.
