British Columbia: wedding photo & video

We photograph and film weddings and elopements across British Columbia as one team, starting in Kelowna and Victoria. A British Columbia marriage licence has no waiting period, and one person can apply for both of you, so park bookings and permits, not paperwork, set the date. Ask for the price list; it arrives within one business day.

Wedding photo & video across British Columbia

We photograph and film weddings and elopements across British Columbia as one team, with an independent partner photographer matched to your location. The British Columbia locations on this site are Kelowna on Okanagan Lake, which counted 144,576 people in 20211, and Victoria on the Juan de Fuca Strait shore, which counted 91,8672.

In both cities, park bookings are the calendar. Kelowna opens City park ceremony bookings on February 14 for the current year only, first come, first served3. Victoria asks for a Wedding Permit Application at least six weeks before the date4. The licence is the easy part, with no waiting period5.

One BC detail affects our schedules. The province keeps Pacific time (UTC−7) year-round from November 1, 2026, with no clock changes6, and the sunrise and sunset times on our BC pages use that offset all year.

Locations in British Columbia

In British Columbia we shoot in two cities. The Kelowna wedding page covers lakeside ceremonies, park weddings and vineyard-country weekends, with the City's booking calendar and the October light. The Victoria wedding page covers park ceremonies, harbour-side portraits and small weddings, with the six-week permit and the April light set out in full4. Both pages say which spots are bookable, which stay open to the public during a ceremony, and what each one allows, so the shot list matches the rules.

British Columbia marriage licence basics

The BC Vital Statistics Agency's licences are sold by marriage licence issuers. The fee is $100 CAD, non-refundable, and includes the first marriage certificate5. There is no waiting period; you buy the licence within 3 months before the wedding date5. You need 2 witnesses, each over age 195.

Only one person in the couple needs to apply, in person, showing primary identification for both people5. The issuer prints the licence at purchase, and nothing is mailed5. The ceremony must be performed by a marriage commissioner or religious official, and people aged 19 or older can marry without parental consent5. We summarize published rules; the issuer is the authority, so confirm the details with that office before the date is fixed and the booking is made.

Questions couples ask

01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in British Columbia?

Once you have a date, since a deposit is what holds it. The licence has no waiting period5, so park rules set the lead time: Kelowna's City bookings open on February 14 for the current year3, and Victoria wants a permit application at least six weeks ahead4.

02Do you travel to British Columbia, and is travel included?

Yes. Travel within British Columbia is built into the quote, not added later, so the price list is the figure you plan with. We introduce you to an independent partner photographer matched to your location and share their recent galleries and films before you speak.

03Can we book photo and video together?

Yes, with one crew for both. For aerial footage in Kelowna, a drone flight on City property needs a City permit and only commercial operators can be approved7. We ask whether your partner meets those conditions before promising any aerial shots.

04How many photos do we receive, and when?

The count depends on the collection and the length of the day, and your partner writes it, with the delivery dates, into the contract. A sneak peek comes first, then the full edited gallery and the film. Ask for the number on the introduction call and have it in writing.
