Wedding photo & video across Montana

In Montana we shoot in Glacier National Park. One team makes the photographs and the film, an independent partner photographer is matched to your location and date, and your contract is with them. The park has a page for weddings and a page for elopements.

Montana pairs a flexible license with a strict park. The state allows marriages where no individual acting alone solemnized the marriage, and a party then completes the certificate1. Glacier requires a special use permit for every ceremony, whatever the group size, and prohibits drones2. A Montana license is valid in any Montana county but not in any other state or country3, so a park ceremony is a Montana ceremony from the license to the vows.

The price list is written for the place you name, with travel built in; send the form with your date and we reply within one business day.

Locations in Montana

Glacier National Park is the Montana location with its own pages: wedding photographer and film in Glacier National Park, with the lake and pass sites and the park's rules, and eloping in Glacier National Park, with the paperwork and a half-day plan. Both pages list the sites, the light by month and the permit rules. For a wedding elsewhere in Montana, send the town on the form.

Montana marriage license basics

Montana licenses come from the Clerk of District Court in any Montana county, for $53 with no waiting period; the license stays valid for 180 days3. It is valid in any Montana county but not in any other state or country3. Both of you appear with valid photo ID showing date of birth, and in Glacier County the license is returned within 30 days after the ceremony3.

Flathead County takes an online application first and charges the same $534. Marriage may be solemnized by a judge, public official, authorized notary or tribal judge, or by any mode recognized by a religious denomination, and proxy marriage requires one party to be on active U.S. military duty or a Montana resident1. A Declaration of Marriage without solemnization can be filed for $53 with two witnesses before the clerk3.

Montana questions

01How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Montana?

Start with the permit. Glacier accepts applications up to one year ahead, recommends at least four weeks, and warns that processing can take several months2. A Montana license stays valid for 180 days3, so it is the last piece to collect. Book the team once the date and site are chosen.

02Do you travel to Montana, and is travel included?

Travel is built into the quote for the location you name. Glacier National Park is the Montana location with its own pages here; for another town, send it on the form and we say whether we can match a partner photographer to it. A Montana license is valid in any Montana county but not in another state or country3.

03Can we book photo and video together in Montana?

Yes. One crew shoots both, and the film is planned beside the gallery. In Glacier, the park counts photographers and videographers toward group size and prohibits drones2, so the film is shot from the ground and the group is planned with the crew in it.

04How many photos do we receive, and when?

The number depends on the length of coverage, so the partner states it in your contract. In Glacier the permitted ceremony is at most two hours2, and the rest of the gallery comes from portraits made around it. Every photo collection includes an edited gallery with print rights and a sneak peek within days.
