Wedding videographer in Pittsburgh

A Pittsburgh wedding film starts with sound as much as picture: lavalier microphones and a recorder on the officiant, and one crew filming and photographing the same day. Here is what you receive, and how the light runs in the city.

A Pittsburgh wedding film from Troth Weddings comes in three parts. The feature film tells the day in order, from getting ready to the reception. The teaser is the short version, made to be shared. The ceremony edit is the ceremony in full, with the complete audio, so the vows are there word for word.

Sound is the main reason we send one crew for photo and video. The officiant wears a lavalier microphone and carries a separate recorder, so the words at the ceremony come from a microphone on the speaker rather than from a camera across the room.

The same crew also plans portraits and film together. A stop on the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which spans the Allegheny downtown2, is lit, framed and timed once and used by both. If you want film only, choose the Film column on the form and the price list is written for that.

Wedding detail

A film keeps rolling through the hours a photographer can skip, so the length of the day matters. On June 15 the sun rises at 05:49 and sets at 20:52 in Pittsburgh1, enough daylight to film a ceremony in full light and still have the sun for portraits. By October 15 sunset is at 18:401, and the ceremony moves earlier in the afternoon.

Weather shapes the recording as well as the picture. June averages 4.12 inches of precipitation and October 2.83 inches3, with an October average high of 63.1°F3. On a wet day the ceremony is filmed under cover with the microphones already in place, and your partner agrees that fallback with you before the date.

  6. A sneak peek first, then the full gallery and the film on the dates set in your contract.

Film questions

01How long is the wedding film in Pittsburgh?

The feature film and the teaser are cut to the lengths your partner names in the contract, so we don't publish one runtime for every wedding. What is fixed is the package: a feature film, a teaser and a ceremony edit with full audio. A full day or a two-day weekend simply gives the edit more scenes to cut from.

02Do you record the vows and speeches?

Yes. The ceremony is recorded with lavalier microphones and a separate recorder on the officiant, which is why the ceremony edit has complete audio. Speeches are recorded when they fall inside your coverage; tell your partner on the call if you want them filmed from the start.

03Do you fly a drone in Pittsburgh?

Not by default. Whether a drone is allowed depends on the rules for each place, and those change, so your partner checks the rule for every stop in your plan before the date and tells you what they find. Where a drone isn't allowed, the film is shot from the ground.

04When is the film delivered?

On the date written into your contract with the partner. The order never changes: a sneak peek first, then the full gallery and the film. Ask for the film date on your first call, so it is agreed before you pay a deposit.

Say when.

Tell us the date, or only the month, and the Pittsburgh price list arrives within one business day with a partner's recent films. Say on the form if you want film alone or photo and video together.
